At this year’s Procigar Festival, Ernesto Pérez-Carrillo announced a change in the name of his well-known cigar factory, Tabacalera La Alianza. The new name of the factory, Casa Carrillo, captures the company’s heritage, vision, and commitment to tradition.
Casa Carrillo is owned and operated by Ernesto Pérez-Carrillo, who has over 50 years of experience in the premium tobacco industry. Casa Carrillo produces many award-winning brands, including those released by E.P. Carrillo, including the award-winning La Historic, Encore, and Pledge lines.
Casa Carrillo was first launched in 2009 in Santiago’s Zone Franca area. The 40,000 square foot facility, which originally opened and was run as Tabacalera La Alianaza, is a Cuban-inspired premium cigar factory with a name that symbolized family collaboration (alliance), especially with Ernesto III and Lissette, the two head directives within the company. The company changed its name from Tabacalera La Alianaza to Casa Carrillo to strengthen the connection between the factory and its flagship brand, E.P. Carrillo.
“The term ‘casa,’ meaning ‘home,’ reflects our essence. It’s where our iconic brands have not just been created but lovingly nurtured, much like a family. ‘Carrillo’ represents more than just a name; it embodies a legacy and over fifty years of unparalleled commitment and artistry in the cigar industry,” stated Pérez-Carrillo in a press release. “We look forward to persistently producing exceptional cigars for the E.P. Carrillo brand and collaborating with our present and upcoming private label partners.”
